How do I check my balance on a sim-only Orange mobile contract?

I have tried calling 453 to check my balance but it says the number is ‘permanantly barred’. Could this have something to do with the fact that I have a Sim-only deal?
Also I have a voicemail icon at the top of my screen but I don’t know the voicemail number. I’ve tried 150 but this was only if I wanted to record a voicemail message rather than listening to voicemails.
This Orange network is all new to me!
