How do you remove the orange stain from the inside of the dishwasher?
Filed Under Cleaning Laundry | 4 Comments
I know it’s caused by tomato-based foods, but I’ve scrubbed and scrubbed with dish soap, and the inside of my dishwasher is still orange. How do you remove these types of stains?

I got a magenta permanent marker on a orange cotton shirt. I have only worn the shirt twice before. I would like to get the marker stain out without bleaching the shirt. Anyone know how?

Why do some loads of laundry come out with yellow/orange stains?
Filed Under Cleaning Laundry | 7 Comments
Ok. This is the second time it’s happened in 2 weeks.
The first time, these yellow/tan/orange stains occured on a third of the clothes I washed. It’s a complete mystery.
It’s NOT sweat, or anything like that. It’s something happening in the washer, which is a year old, by the way, and I’ve not switched detergents, or anything, either.
So I did some more laundry this week, did a few loads, and they turned out fine, then the third load, BOOM! The stains were back!!! I thought it was from new hand towels I bought at Walmart, but I didn’t wash any of them this time, and the stains are back! ???????
I can NOT figure it out, or find a common item I washed with the first stained load.
It’s driving me crazy, and what’s worse, costing me real money, now.
I went out last week and bought a bunch of laundry chemicals, stain remover, color remover, color safe bleach, etc….
It did NOT work. I never dried the stained items, so the stains are not set yet…..HELP!!!!

I have several of those 59 oz clear plastic Orange Juice Containers. I wanted to use them to store milk. I tried it once after washing it out with soap and then again tried bleach. It didn’t remove the smell, and it actually adds a slight taste to the milk.
Does anyone have ideas that will help completely remove this smell?

Our housekeeper washes our laundry, which we’re grateful for, but she’s somehow getting orange stains all over our white towels. What is causing the orange stains?
I’ve checked for rust in the machine - nothing. Could it be that she’s pouring beach and detergent directly onto the towels?
And about having someone do our laundry. Yes, it’s a priviledge to have help. I wouldn’t have help if I didn’t really need it though (I have a chronically ill child) so don’t think I’m too spoiled or anything : )
The stains look like someone spilled orange tang on the towels. It’s not like there’s a general orange tinge. It really looks like a spill here and there. That’s why I’m thinking it could be a chemical reaction of bleach and detergent that’s poured directly on the towels. I don’t have these stains on anything else but what’s being bleached, so it can’t be the iron in the water.

What is causing orange stains on dark clothing after washing?
Filed Under Cleaning Laundry | 6 Comments
I have been finding ugly orange stains on some of my clothing over the past six months to a year after washing them (pictures below). It happens to random clothes - only to dark t-shirts, but not all dark t-shirts (I have one that I wear all the time that has no staining at all). The stains become more discolored and get larger the more I wash the clothing. I recently purchased an expensive concert t-shirt that is black and after the first washing noticed some orange staining on the underarm area (this was where it was most prominent) and at the end of the sleeve.
What could be causing this? I am using ‘All’ laundry detergent. I don’t want to ruin another shirt… especially one i just purchased for a good amount of money…
Anyone have any ideas?

Thought it was bleach stains from previous loads because this mainly occured when I’m at college sharing laundry machines with other people. However, the shirt I am concerned about was only washed once at my house where bleach isn’t used…
